Segas letzter Versuch als Konsolenhersteller war die Sega Dreamcast. 1998 erschien die Dreamcast in Japan und 1999 in USA und Europa. Selbst heute schwärmen viele noch über die Dreamcast und die richtig gute Software. Aber die übermächtige PlayStation 2 nahm der Dreamcast jeden Raum zum Atmen. Insgesamt gingen mehr als 9 Millionen Dreamcasts über die Ladentheke. Aber das reichte Sega anscheinend nicht, um profitabel zu sein. Daher beendete die Sega im Jahre 2001 die Dreamcast und Sega verschwand damit völlig vom Konsolenmarkt. Nur als Publisher blieb uns Sega erhalten. Nicht nur ich vermisse Sega. Aber Entscheidungen von CEOs müssen ja nicht immer nachvollziehbar sein.

Sega therefore discontinued the Dreamcast in 2001 and Sega disappeared completely from the console market. Sega only remained as a publisher. I’m not the only one who misses Sega. But CEO decisions don’t always have to be understandable.
