Die ersten 3DO Konsolen erschienen 1993 in USA und dann in Japan und Europa 1994. 5 Hersteller unterstützten The 3DO Company (gegründet vom EA Gründer Trip Hawkins): Creative Labs, Goldstar, Samsung und Sanyo. Allerdings ereilte den 3DO das gleiche Schicksal wie das CD-i. Es konnte sich nicht durchsetzen. Damit endete das Leben 1996 für das 3DO Interactive Multiplayer (aka The first 3DO Machine oder R.E.A.L. 3DO Interactive Multiplayer).

However, the 3DO suffered the same fate as the CD-i. It was unable to assert itself.
