Leider wurde ihm der Ruhm erst zu teil nach seinem Ableben. 1972 (in Europa 1973) erschien dann seine erste Odyssey von Magnavox. Diese Konsole war zwar auf Pongniveau, hatte aber schon Module. Allerdings waren auf den Modulen jeweils das ganze System und angezeigt werden konnten nur schwarz/weiße Blöcke und Linien. Daher hatte jedes Game ein Overlay für den Fernseher dabei und Punkte oder Zeiten, die durfte man mal schön händisch selber zählen. Bis zum Ende 1975 wurden insgesamt 350.000 Konsolen verkauft.
