Der WonderSwan von Bandai ist nicht nur ein netter Handheld. Nein, er hat auch ein wenig Geschichte. Erfunden wurde der WonderSwan von Gunpei Yokoi, der auch der Erfinder war vom Gameboy und vom Virtual Boy war. Leider hat Nintendo ihn nach dem Desaster um den Virtual Boy mit Schimpf und Schande weggejagt. Mit seiner Firma Koto Laboratory und Bandai arbeitete er dann am WonderSwan. Leider verstarb er im Jahre 1997 und konnte den Release 1999 nicht mehr miterleben. Vom WonderSwan, der noch schwarz/weiß war, konnten mehr als 1,5 Million verkauft werden. Wie die anderen WonderSwans wurden die Handhelds nur in Japan herausgebracht.
