1993 erschien der Atari Jaguar in USA und 1994 in Europa und Japan. Das Marketing setzte besonders auf die vermeintliche 64-Bit-Architektur. Allerdings so wirklich Anteile am Gamingmarkt konnte man mit dem Atari Jaguar nicht erreichen. Daher kam Atari auf die Idee einen CD-Zusatz herauszubringen. Das brachte aber das ohnehin nicht großes Gameslibrary gerade mal 13 CD-Games mehr. Auch wenn Atari-Fans immer noch harte Jag-Fans sind, wurden nur 150.000 Einheiten veräußert (Alien vs. Predator verkaufte sich dabei 85.000 Mal) und Atari beendet den Jaguar 1996.

However, the Atari Jaguar was unable to gain a real share of the gaming market. This is why Atari came up with the idea of releasing a CD add-on. However, this only added 13 CD games to the already limited games library. Even though Atari fans are still die-hard Jag fans, only 150,000 units were sold (Alien vs. Predator sold 85,000 copies) and Atari ended the Jaguar in 1996.
