Das Sega Master System erschien als Mark III 1985 in Japan und dann 1986 in den USA und schließlich auch 1987 bei uns. In Brasilien tauchte die Konsole von Sega zwar erst 1989 auf, aber wird bis heute noch unterstützt. Weltweit wurden von der Konsole bis zu 13 Millionen Exemplare verkauft. Neben Modulen kann man auch das Master System mit sogenannten Sega Cards betreiben.
