In 1979, the TI-99/4 and just two years later the TI-99/4A (which I own) were released by Texas Instruments. These calculators were supposed to fend off the competition from Apple, Atari and Commodore. Unfortunately, this didn’t quite work out. Around 20,000 units were sold and fans of the TI-99/4 and TI-99/4A are still really enthusiastic today. But unfortunately, the end came as early as 1981. Nevertheless, a system that gamers should keep an eye on.
