Kaum dachten Kritiker nach dem GBA naja so langsam stoppt der Handhelderfolg von Nintendo und zack 2004 in USA und Japan und bei uns 1 Jahr später erschien der Nintendo DS. DS stand für Dualscreen und das war auch das Gimmick. Man konnte nun auf 2 Screens spielen was auch etliche Spiele sinnvoll genutzt haben. Der Nintendo DS konnte auch noch GBA Titel abspielen. Erst 2013 endete der Nintendo DS – verkauft wurden bis dahin 154 (!!!) Millionen Units. Natürlich zählte Nintendo die Upgrades wie DS Lite, DSi und DSi XL zu den Verkaufszahlen des Nintendo DS dazu.
