Der Super Nintendo bzw. das SNES sollte den Erfolg vom NES noch mal toppen. In Japan erschien das Super Famicom 1990 – der SNES dann 1991 in USA und in Europa 1 Jahr später. Obwohl besonders der SNES so eine Legende ist, verkauft sich die Konsole „nur“ knapp 50 Millionen Einheiten. Aber Spiele wie Super Mario World (knapp 20 Millionen – wenn auch meistens bei der Konsole dabei war) oder Street Fighter 2 mit knapp 6 Millionen Einheiten stehen für den überwältigen kommerziellen Erfolg. Später kam nun der Super Gameboy heraus, um Gameboy Module auf dem SNES spielen zu können.
The Super Nintendo or SNES was to top the success of the NES. The Super Famicom was released in Japan in 1990 – the SNES in the USA in 1991 and in Europe one year later. Although the SNES in particular is such a legend, the console “only” sold just under 50 million units. But games like Super Mario World (just under 20 million – even though it was mostly included with the console) or Street Fighter 2 with just under 6 million units stand for the overwhelming commercial success. Later, the Super Gameboy was released so that Gameboy modules could be played on the SNES.
