Der SG-1000 erschien 1983 in Japan und sollte sich dem aufkommenden Desinteresse von Arcades entgegenstellen. Sega schaffte es mit einem recht soliden Games-Line-Up tatsächlich vom SG-1000 1.4 Millionen Konsolen und vom SG-3000 zusätzlich 120.000 Konsolen zu verkaufen. Der SG-1000 wurde 1985 eingestellt. Aber der SG-1000 diente als Grundlage für das sehr erfolgreiche Sega Master System.
The SG-1000 was released in Japan in 1983 and was intended to counter the growing disinterest in arcades. With a fairly solid games line-up, Sega actually managed to sell 1.4 million consoles of the SG-1000 and an additional 120,000 consoles of the SG-3000. The SG-1000 was discontinued in 1985. But the SG-1000 served as the basis for the very successful Sega Master System.
